Participants in Cannon Music Camp's Guitar Studies
program have a variety of opportunities to pursue their interest in one
of the world's most popular instruments.
Daily activities for guitar students include:
Guitar Ensemble - a large ensemble utilizing guitars for all of the principle parts, with “guest appearances” by other instruments from the orchestra.
Guitar Masterclass/Technique Workshop - a hands-on clinic where students have a chance to learn the technical and interpretative secrets of the pros in group technique workouts and masterclasses.
Music Theory - All Cannon Camp participants study the forms and structure of music at one of four levels, as determined by placement tests administered at the beginning of camp session.
Additionally, all guitar principals receive a one-hour weekly private lesson.
Other ensemble opportunities for guitarists include
the
Jazz Ensembles, the Symphony and String Orchestras, Wind Ensemble,
Symphonic
Band, and one or more of the choral ensembles should the guitarist play
the appropriate instrument or sing. Participation in these groups
is determined by audition, held during the beginning of camp session.
