CANNON MUSIC CAMP

Participants in Cannon Music Camp's keyboard program have a variety of opportunities to pursue their interest in performing and learning about keyboard instruments, including both piano and organ.

Daily activities for keyboard students include:

Piano Chamber Ensemble - a small ensemble class designed to give students exposure to and experience with piano music written for more than one player.

Piano Literature - a class intended to broaden the student's knowledge and understanding of the wide range of literature written for the piano.

Music Theory - All Cannon Camp participants study the forms and structure of music at one of four levels, as determined by placement tests administered at the beginning of camp session.

Additionally, all keyboard principals receive a one-hour weekly private lesson, as well as participating in a weekly masterclass.

Other ensemble opportunities for keyboardists include the Jazz Ensembles, the Symphony and String Orchestras, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and one or more of the choral ensembles should the keyboardist play the appropriate instrument or sing.  Participation in these groups is determined by audition, held during the beginning of camp session.
