MEAL CARD ACCOUNTS may be replenished by calling 828-262-6141 or 262-3061.  Please add money frugally as unused funds cannot be refunded at the end of camp.

GUESTS:  Day guests, except parents, are not allowed in the residence hall without the permission of Associate Director Huey, Dean Perry, Dean Daugherty or Dr. Hopkins.  No one is permitted above the main floor except while moving in or out.  Parents may enter the other floors on moving days only.  OVERNIGHT GUESTS are not permitted to stay in the residence hall under any condition.

GOOD HOUSEKEEPING:  Brooms, mops, and dust pans are available for cleaning.  ENJOY THEM!  Rooms will be checked periodically by counselors.
 

UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, BREAKING ANY RULE LISTED BELOW WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE EXPULSION FROM CAMP WITH NO REFUND OF FEES.

1.	UNDERSTAND AND OBEY ANY AND ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS ISSUED BY THE CAMP DIRECTOR AND THE UNIVERSITY.
	Campers who demonstrate behavior deemed unacceptable by the camp administration will be immediately dismissed from camp.
2.	DEMONSTRATE COOPERATION AND RESPECT TO CAMP/CONFERENCE STAFF AND PARTICIPANTS AND UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES, STUDENTS AND VISITORS.
3.	SHOW RESPECT FOR THE RIGHTS, PRIVACY AND PROPERTY OF OTHERS. THIS INCLUDES REFRAINING FROM HARASSMENT-UNWELCOME OR UNSOLICITED SPEECH OR CONDUCT ? OF ALL PERSONS ON CAMPUS REGARDLESS OF THEIR RACE, RELIGION, COLOR, CREED, SEX, NATIONAL, ORIGIN, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, OR DISABILITY.
	There will be no stealing.  There will be no vandalism.  There will be no fraternizing on floors housing the opposite gender.  BOYS MAY NOT VISIT GIRLS’ FLOORS GIRLS MAY NOT VISIT BOYS’ FLOORS Only designated stairways and elevators may be used as entrances to your living quarters. Campers who demonstrate an unhealthy and/or aggressive sexual behavior will be immediately dismissed from camp. Any form of hazing is strictly prohibited and is considered a Class 2 misdemeanor. The term "hazing" shall mean any conduct or method of initiation on any person, which willfully or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any person for the purpose of initiation or inclusion. Such conduct shall include, but is not limited to, whipping, beating, branding, forced calisthenics, certain apparel, exposure to the weather, forced consumption of food, liquor, beverage, drug or other substance, or any other brutal treatment or forced physical activity which is likely to adversely affect the physical health or safety of any student or which subjects such student or other person to extreme mental stress, including extended deprivation of sleep or rest or extended isolation.
4.	NOT POSSESS OR USE ANY ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, OR DRUGS DURING THE CAMP (UNLESS PRESCRIBED BY A PHYSICIAN) OR POSSESS A WEAPON.
	Prohibited items include tobacco products, any type of non over-the-counter, non-prescription or illegal drug, alcohol, weapons, explosives, and incendiaries. Weapons include items that are seemingly harmless but may be used as weapons—the so-called “dual use” items. (i.e. pen/utility knives, box cutters, knives of any length or size, sabers, swords or metal scissors with pointed tips) If you bring a prohibited item to camp you may be dismissed from camp and held criminally liable by the University (including a ban from University property), or at the least, asked to rid yourself of the item depending on the severity of the prohibited item. A camp official and/or University Police Officer will make this determination, depending on what the item is and the circumstances. This is because bringing a prohibited item to camp—even accidentally—is dangerous to all staff and campers in addition to violation of University policy. Reasonable suspicion of a possession of prohibited items is cause for camp officials and/or University Police to ask that your belongings and living area be searched.
5.	COMPLY WITH THE SCHEDULE OF ALL CAMP/CONFERENCE FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING EVENTS, MEALS, QUIET HOURS, AND CURFEWS.
	Attendance:  In order to receive the maximum benefits from camp, you must attend all classes. You cannot learn if you are not in class.  Class rolls are checked and absences reported to the head counselors, deans, and directors and may result in revocation of scholarships unless approval is given by the deans or directors.  Repeated absences will result in expulsion from camp with no refund of fees.     Also, attendance at all concerts is required.  Parents are invited to camp concerts, free of charge.  Admission is charged to An Appalachian Summer concerts.  You may join your parents during visits as long as camp functions are attended.     Most evening concerts, which feature campers, camp ensembles, and camp faculty, begin at 7:00 P.M. and usually last an hour.  Sunday concerts begin at 2:00 P.M. and feature two or more camp ensembles.  Dress rehearsals are held on Saturday morning prior to Sunday’s performance.  Attendance at dress rehearsals is required.     Proper concert etiquette, both as a performer and an audience member, is expected at all concerts the camp attends.  It is at these events that the camp is on its most “public” display.  Set a good example for all those in attendance. Curfew:  If you are late for curfew (see schedule below), the first tardy results in reporting to the dorm at 9:00 P.M. for two consecutive evenings.  A second tardy results in four nights in at 9:00 P.M., with your parents being notified.  A third tardy results in expulsion from camp with no refund of fees.     RESIDENCE HALL CLOSING HOURS   10:15 PM: FIVE MINUTE WARNING UNTIL DOORS CLOSE.   10:20 PM: OUTSIDE DOORS ARE LOCKED. You must be on the way to your floor.   10:30 PM: ROOM CHECK.  You must be in your room.   11:00 PM: ALL LIGHTS WILL BE OUT AT THIS TIME. This schedule may vary on weekends, depending on the evening activity.
6.	TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY PERSONAL PROPERTY, INCLUDING ROOM KEY, MEAL/ACCESS CARD, AND AGREE TO LOCK MY ROOM WHEN LEAVING IT.
7.	PAY FOR ANY LOST ROOM KEY OR ANY DAMAGE TO UNIVERSITY PROPERTY.
8.	UNDERSTAND THAT ALL FACILITIES AND RESIDENCE HALLS NOT USED BY MY CAMP/CONFERENCE ARE STRICTLY OFF LIMITS, AND THAT I AM NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE CAMPUS WITHOUT PERMISSION AND SUPERVISION BY THE CAMP STAFF.
	Sign-out System:  There is a mandatory system requiring you to sign out for off-campus travels on weekends and evenings (very rare).  Boone is a particularly safe place to be, but we must know where you are during your weekend free time in case an emergency should arise.  This system is very simple and is designed to protect you.  If you fail to adhere to sign-out system, the first infraction results in a call to parents and two evenings in at 9:00 P.M.  The second time results in expulsion from camp with no refund of fees. You may not ride in automobiles or motorized vehicles.  We cannot be responsible for your health and safety if you are in a car or other vehicle and not under the supervision of a responsible adult.  A violation of this policy is considered to be very serious, and may result in expulsion from camp with no refund of fees.     The only exception to the “riding” policy is when you are with your parent or guardian, and have permission from Dr. Hopkins, Associate Director Huey, Dean Perry, or Dean Daugherty.  Riding with an adult visitor is permitted only if your parents give permission in writing prior to camp.  You may make use of the public transportation system in Boone (“Applecart”) on Saturdays and "Break" day.
9.	TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY SAFETY BY TRAVELING IN PAIRS AND/OR GROUPS BOTH ON AND OFF CAMPUS.
10.	SUPPORT MY TEAM MEMBERS (FELLOW CAMPERS) AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY TEAMS ACTIONS.
11.	I UNDERSTAND THAT IF I DO NOT FOLLOW THE RULES, REGULATIONS, AND CODE OF CONDUCT FOR THIS CAMP, MY PARENTS WILL BE CONTACTED, AND I MAY BE DISMISSED FROM CAMP WITH NO REFUND.
