The suggestions listed here are just that, suggestions.
They are given as examples of the kinds of pieces you should sing or play
at your audition to present yourself in the best musical light. Your
music teacher should be able to help you find these pieces or others of
similar content and difficulty.
For instrumentalists, pieces that are used for All-District, All-Region, or All-State auditions or Solo and Ensemble festivals would be fine for CMC scholarship auditions. Also, the person listening to your audition will likely ask you to play scales. Ask your music teacher what scales are appropriate for your age and ability level.
For vocalists, solo pieces usually work better than singing a part from a choral piece. Pieces that would be appropriate for Solo and Ensemble festivals would be fine. Any classical solo would be appropriate; pop or Broadway pieces are not appropriate. Accompanists are not provided at regional audition sites, so you will need to bring a pianist with you.
Follow the highlighted links below for other specific
suggestions of the kinds of pieces and scales you should prepare for your
Cannon Music Camp scholarship audition. If your instrument is not
highlighted, please check back later for updates.
